Peewee “C” Crowned Champions Again in Blackburn
The Peewee C team headed to Blackburn for the weekend tournament, playing some of their best hockey this year. The round robin format had Richmond playing Metcalfe3-1, Cumberland 8-0, and North Dundas 3-1. After winning all three games in the round robin pool, it was on the semi finials vs. Stittsville, and the championship game against Canterbury.
The team played amazing defence and had an awesome fore-check working, which gave the competition more than they could handle at times. The Goaltending was rock solid allowing only 3 goals in all 5 games.
Hats off to the Players, Coaching staff, and the loud and proud parents in the stands. Well Done... Picture Here
Atom B take "A" Championship in Cobourg!
The Richmond Royals Atom B team headed West down the 401 this past weekend to play in the Cobourg Tournament. In the Round Robin, the Royals were undefeated after 3 games against Cobourg Pharmacy 101, the Bradford Bulldogs and Gananoque 2. Fantastic goaltending, solid defensive plays, nimble forwards and most importantly, consistent effort and teamwork placed Richmond in second place going into the A finals. After spending the evening in the Old Cobourg Jail and then working out some stress at the bowling alley, the team was ready to face the previously undefeated (all season)Woodstock Jr. Navy Jets. Before the game, the excitement and anticipation was palpable – the dressing room was silent as the players got their game faces on and prepared mentally for the challenge ahead. After a few words from Coach Randy, the team headed to the ice, where they met their opponents while waiting for the Zamboni to finish clearing the ice. The battle began on the sidelines when the two teams began to cheer, and the parents joined in with “Let’s Go ROYALS Let’s go!” Woodstock took the lead in the 1st period with one goal. The second period saw Jack Rabb put Richmond on the board with one goal. With 5 minutes left in the 3rd period, Luke Corrigan scored the goal that put Richmond in the lead. After a tense countdown, the buzzer signalled the end of the game and officially declared the Richmond Royals Atom B team Champions!!! Hardest Worker and Most Sportsmanlike Player awards went to: Luke Corrigan, Garrett Smith, Matthew Lawn and Matthew Smart. Tournament MVP went to Meagan Williams. WAY TO GO TEAM!!!
