Richmond Novice C White Almonte Tournament Finalists

This past Saturday Jan.31st, the Richmond Novice C White team played with heart, desire and as team to become finalist in the A Division of the Almonte Novice C Tournament. The games MVP's for the tournament went to Tyler Ayotte, Noah Roller and Shane Beresford. The team's goalie Brittnee Kenny guard our net with conviction and desire, where she even was able to cover the puck with her bare hand once, due to her glove fallng off from a scramble at the net. At no point in the tournament did the kids give up or quit. They played with thier hearts.

The team played the Kanata StormTroopers in thier first game where they came out the gate fast and hard scoring 4 goals in the first period and was able to hold on to win the game 5-4 in regulation.  Tyler Ayotte scored the game winner with 6:20 left in the third period. Also giving him a hat trick for the game. This win gave the team thier A Division seating.

Next, the team played nail biting game against the Almonte Thunder in the semi finals. This game had all the drama and suspense of any classic hockey game. The game was back and forth from the opening face-off of the game. A late goal in the third period from Noah Roller timed the game at 4 all thus sending the game into sudden-death overtime 4 on 4. With 1:55 seconds left in first overtime period, Noah Roller again managed to find back of the net due to a great pass from Alex Hobgood giving us the win.

Richmond then faced the Rockland Nats in the championship game. Richmond lost this game 6 - 0. But do not let the score fool you, this game had all the drama and excitement of the first two. The kids were blocking shots, fore-checking and back-checking very agressively and leaving it all on the ice. This was very obvious in the dressing room after the championship game as the kids complimented and should pride towards each and other for thier accomplishments they had that day. The kids showed coaches and parents that they were more than hockey players now, and more than a team now. They are now a team of friends that believe in each other. Congradulations to the RICHMOND NOVICE C WHITE team on very successfull tournament and winning the Silver Medal.
