Dear Members,

I have just completed my first year as a member of the Board and as the Vice-President of the Richmond Munster and District Minor Hockey Association.  I have truly enjoyed working and more importantly learning from my colleagues on the Board, many other volunteers, parents, referees and most of all the players.  My main role as the Vice-President is to assist your President, Gary Gray.  This has been a very easy task throughout the 2008 – 2009 season as it would be impossible to find an individual more dedicated to the association, all of its members and our hockey players.  In Gary’s first year as President, he has maintained Past–President Luc Gagne’s emphasis on the fun of the game and respect for teammates, officials and opponents.  It is these goals in which I hope to continue helping Gary achieve.

As Vice-President, I am also responsible for the RMMHA’s relations with the various hockey leagues with which our teams are entered.  The Richmond Munster and District Minor Hockey Association is a member of the Lanark Carleton Minor Hockey League (LCMHL), which is a hockey league of 150 teams from Novice to Juvenile playing in the Western Ottawa area and townships west of the city.  Participating associations are Almonte / Pakenham, Carleton Place, Osgoode Rideau, Perth/Lanark, Richmond, Stittsville, and West Carleton.  We have and will continue to work with our partner organizations to ensure a fair and fun league for our children to play in.

We are very lucky to have such great volunteers, which makes this association as great as it is.  We are fortunate to have the members of our board who put in many hours of work and dedication, the coaches, managers and trainers who play such a significant role in our children’s lives, and the parents who drive the kids to the rink, fundraise, volunteer, and most importantly cheer on our kids.  Our success will continue to be measured by the friendships developed, the sportsmanship displayed and the fun of the game.

Yours truly,

Ian Sterling
