Revised October 2007
Equipment Guidelines and Rules
Remember, you play for the name on the front of the jersey, not the back!!
At the start of the season:
JERSEYS:
The RMMHA will lend your player two jerseys – one home jersey and one away jersey. These are expensive items for the association so we strongly recommend your player treat them with respect – not stuffing them into a hockey bag but rather kept on a hanger or in a jersey bag for transportation.
- If you child is given an “A” – for assistant captain, or a “C” for team captain, the patches are to go on front of the jersey on the left chest side.
- If you are given a STOP sign, please sew it just above the jersey number in the center of the back. It should be very visible and not obscured by any sponsor banners
- If you are given sponsor bars, they go on the TOP. Please make every effort to install them promptly – our sponsors are paying for the privilege of showing their name on our jersey. We owe them the courtesy of making them visible.
- Player names are optional. These name bars can be purchased at most sports stores and should be installed at the BOTTOM of the jerseys. Blue bars go on blue jerseys – just remember blue on blue, white on white.
- No other patches or decals are to installed on RMMHA jerseys unless approved by the Equipment Manager
SOCKS:
Socks are also provided to new members of the association – 1 pair each of home and away socks.. The Royals take great pride in the Royals brand and if your socks get too small or have holes appear in them, please return them to the Equipment Manager in exchange for a new pair.
- The rules specify that socks are important to the game. White socks are to worn for home games, dark socks for away game. Socks are not to be reversed or mixed up. It is to avoid confusion while on the ice and violation of this rule can result in a penalty to your player.
- Please note that Royals socks are FOR GAME USE ONLY. Do not use them during practices.
GOALIE GEAR:
Goalie’s who need gear can borrow from the association. Pads are available and there are usually a few sets of goalie skates available on a first come/first served basis. A $500 deposit is required. This deposit will only be cashed if the equipment is not returned within 30 days of the end of the season. Goalie equipment is also available to be rented during the off season. Please contact the Equipment Manager for details.
OTHER:
Water bottles are provided for the players. They are handed out to the bench staff with the First Aid kits.
At the end of the season:
For parents, your team manager will be asking you for the return of borrowed gear (jerseys and goalie gear). Here are some guidelines for you to make the process easy for everyone:
JERSEYS:
Please wash both jerseys, then
- Remove and return all “A’s” and “C’s”
- Remove and keep player name bars
- Remove and return sponsor bars – note: these are very expensive and we’d really like them back to reuse the next season.
- Put both jerseys on a single hanger
- You have prepaid for lost/unreturned jerseys. Jersey's are to be given to your team Manager. Team Manager's are required to return all equipment to the Equipment Manager within 30 days of the end of the season. Any jersey's missing, will result in YOUR CHEQUE BEING CASHED.
SOCKS:
No need to return socks if you are planning on playing next year. Feel free to keep them for next season if they are in good condition. For existing players, in order to receive new socks, you must return your old ones, otherwise you will be required to pay for the new ones.
GOALIE GEAR:
When you return your goalie gear, please note any repairs needed. While parents and players are not responsible for wear and tear, we’d like to make sure the gear is in full repair for the next season. If your player has summer camp plans, you can make arrangements to rent the equipment for the summer. A rental fee will be charged. Any outgrown goalie skates are very welcomed and will be put to good use by younger RMMHA goalies. Please contact the Equipment Manager for further information
OTHER:
Any donated hockey equipment is sent to underprivileged kids in northern Canada. Don’t throw it out – give it to your association and we’ll take care of getting it to a good home.
For managers or other bench staff, please help us out by following these guidelines for the return of equipment:
1) JERSEYS:
Please make sure all jerseys are washed and all bars are removed. Pairs of jerseys should be on a single hanger, with a garbage bag over the full team set. (Please label the bag)
- A bin will be issued per team.
- Include a team list with player names and numbers noting any missing jerseys. Please inform the parents of missing jerseys that cheques will be cashed.
- All “A’s” and “C's”, name bars and sponsor bars should be removed and included in your team bin. Sponsor bars are expensive, please take special care to be sure they are included.
2) GOALIE GEAR:
All Goalie gear should be put in a garbage bag. Please make note of any needed repairs. Put the goalie’s name on the bag.
3) OTHER:
Please get water bottles and puck carriers from your coaching staff and return them with the jerseys.
